Approved Design have vast amounts of experience in all types of school buildings. A dynamic sector ranging from pre school right through to university campus.
Knowledge of Building Bulletin guidance is utilised to give clients all the information they need to prevent any unforeseen surprises too late in the design/ construction process. This proved a success with Approved Design’s early appointment on many ‘Building Schools for Future’ projects (BSF’s)
Alternative approaches particularly with regards to fire safety is via the implementation of British Standard 9999 which allows vastly increased compartment sizes giving potential cost savings to the budget.
Recognition of student dependency is crucial with any educational fire strategy. We have certified many school projects which would be deemed “Special Educational Facilites” catering for those children who are not mainstream. In these cases special consideration must be given to the fire strategy taking into account dependency, management levels, students ability to perceive risk, reaction times, behavioural difficulties and level of care required.
